Este exact ce am oferit ca text cînd s-a operat selecția în iarnă, și conform cerințelor specifice trebuia să ne rezumăm  la un număr limitat de cuvinte. Mai multe cînd mă întorc. Contez să-mi țineți pumnii și promit să nu vă dezamăgesc nici din punct de vedere al outfitului.

 

 

Interwoven Boundaries:
Various Stylistic Influences in Romanian Court Costume

”The purpose of the present study is to lay through formal and stylistic
comparisons the contour of the less known court Romanian costume, which was
subjected to constant metamorphoses due to the hectic social and political
background. Between East and West, the court costume reflects temporary
overlappings that mirror precisely the course of history. Before the fifteenth
century the discussion orbitates around the Byzantine influences, whereas the
Renaissance period favors the western ones. After the Ottoman empire had
conquered the Romanian states, the visible influences are preponderantly oriental
and only in the second half of the nineteenth century, western aesthetics
principles become again perceivable. If in the history of western costume we can
easily and separately identify the baroc, rococo and empire style, in the
Roumanian Court costume we come across a mix between Byzantine, Western
and Oriental motifs, all being homogeneously combined with a touch of specific
national vibe. It will be this specific national vibe the one that will make many
traveling chroniclers to historically catalogue this manner of clothing as “modum
Walachorum” — in Latin, “facione valachesca” — in Italian and in German,
“Wallachische Manier.” The influences are detectable backwards also with a
historical record of the Empress Catherine  II, preference for “a la
Moldave” dresses.”
